Dreams are a succession of images, ideas, emotions and sensations occurring involuntarily in the mind during certain stages of sleep. The content and purpose of dreams are not fully understood, though they have been a topic of speculation and interest throughout recorded history. The scientific study of dreams is known as oneirology.

Dreams and Reality

Things have been kind of slow for me lately as far as dreams are concerned. For me, that's really rare. I guess even dreams have their seasons too like everything else.

I will say though that I had kind of a strange dream last night. First of all I went to bed not feeling to well. When I managed to fall asleep I woke up a short time later with my stomach hurting me. I managed to settle it and when I fell back to sleep I had a dream that I was sick to my stomach. The dream had very little detail, if any, and all I remember was that I felt sick in the dream. It was very brief and the only thing that stuck out to me in it was that I was sick in my dream too.

I woke up not long after falling back to sleep and since waking up I've been wondering something...

Does anyone else out there have dreams like that? Where you feel one way (sick/mad/sad/scared) in reality and then when you fall asleep you feel the same way in your dreams?

Baseball Pitcher?

Last night I dreamed I was drafted by the Louisville Cardinals baseball team to play pitcher. First of all I couldn't believe it because I am NOT a baseball player. Fan for sure, but player? Not so much! I don't have the skills to play little league baseball let alone for a major college.

The funny thing about the whole thing though was in my dream after I found out I was drafted I started to practice. Makes sense to do that but what's funny is the WAY I was practicing. I dreamed I had a closet outside somehow that was full of clothes. I would take my place on the pitchers mound and throw pitches into the closet!

Even more funny was the fact that a group of little kids started to help me practice! They would run the bases for me as I would practice my pitching! I would also practice trying to get them out if they made an effort to steal a base or something.

It was a fun dream but super weird. I mean who has access to a closet OUTSIDE of all places? My dreams never cease to surprise me.

WWE Champions, Short Term Goals and Jesus

I had a dream last night that I was teaching a group of guys at church (something I used to do a lot of) about how to improve their relationship with Jesus. The way I illustrated it was kind of crazy...

I was getting frustrated with them because I was starting to lose their attention. The youth minister was trying to get them to listen to me too but it wasn't working. Finally I yelled out as loud as I could and said, "you guys care more about who the freaking WWE Champion is more than the Lord Jesus Christ!" Needless to say, that got their attention.

Once I had their full attention I went on very passionately explaining to them how important it is to keep their relationship with the Lord their top priority. Everyone was listening. And then I told them something I feel like was actually for me in my real life circumstances instead of a group of young men...

I told them they needed to focus on accomplishing short term goals rather than trying to conquer a lot of long term goals. I told them that creating an environment of a lot of short term accomplishments would help build a strong foundation and would help motivate them to knock out those more difficult tasks ahead of them.

I woke up feeling like I had to learn this lesson myself. It was kind of weird seeing me tell a group of people something I actually needed to hear myself!
